Like a Southern Minister high upon his sunny hill, Cee-Lo is preachin' the word of Soul and the goatees that follow.

Something quite amazing happened at the 46th Grammy Awards show that was held back in February. While most music reporters and entertainment journalists were hyping the fact that “hip-hop dominated the Grammys,” truth is, it wasn’t merely hip-hop that stole the show, but Black music as a whole. Just take a look back at the various nominees, winners and performers. There were representatives of multiple generations of Black music as well as many different styles being showcased. In the mix were Beyonce, Prince, Mary J. Blige, OutKast, Luther Vandross, George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, B.B. King, Pharrell, Earth, Wind & Fire and many others. Last time we checked, many of those artists have actually had very little to do with hip-hop and more to do with funk, soul, blues and rock.
